RS232 to USB Transmitting Data issues

Hello,
We recently purchased a new Dell Computer running Windows 7 64 bit
OS. We use this computer to send/receive programs from our CNC
Machines using WIN CNC. Our new PC did not have a RS232 connection
so we purchased a Staples RS232 to USB Adapter. When we try to send
data to our CNC Machines it shows that it is sending the information
on the program and even the RS232 adapter light is blinking
(indicating Data is being transmitted/received) but no data is
received at the CNC Machine. Whats weird is we can send programs
from the CNC back to the PC and it will receive them just fine. When
we hook the equipment back up to the old PC (running WIN XP and not
having to use the adapter) it works just fine. Any help would be
much appreciated.

I assume you will not have luck with Win7 64 and USB to RS232 adapters.
Either use the WinXP virtual machine approach or buy a native RS232
card, for which drivers for WIn7 64 (although the builtin drivers
should do it in most cases) exist.
But if this PC's only use is, to send/receive programs to/from CNC
machines, it may be worth thinking on running this PC with Win7 32
instead of Win7 64 as this has no issues with all those adapters.

Budget RS232 to USB Adapter often have driver issues, which explains why it does not correctly work anymore after switching to Windows 7. Your best bet is to search for different drivers, either Vista 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit drivers, that might work
for you. What driver/driver version are you currently using?

Currently using the 64bit drivers offered on Staples download page (I have pasted the link below) I have also double checked with Magic Control Tech. and they say this is the correct Driver. I think I will end up buying a RS232 Card but am having
a hard time even finding one of those that's compatible with the Windows 7 64bit OS.

Well buying a native RS232 card is much cheaper than buying a new OS. Do you have any suggestions of a card that will work on the Windows 7 64bit OS? I have looked an Newegg and not found any that say they are compatible.

I think almost all will work e.g.

test this one as I am using the ones built into my desktops (HP Z400,
HP 6200 MT, several other HP and Dell).

Purchased a native RS232 to PCI card ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158256 ) and it fixed the problem. I guess no one makes an up to date driver to fix this issue for the USB to RS232 Serial Adapter. Thank you for
your help!
