RPC Error when trying to connect to a Linux machine.
I have 2 laptops running Windows 7, a desktop running XP, and an HP Digital Entertainment Center which uses Linux. I have no problems file sharing from laptop to laptop or to desktop. I have no problem file sharing from XP to Linux, but I am Googled out trying to figure out how to file share from Windows 7 to Linux. I get the following error: \\192.168.1.101 is not accessable. You might not have permissions to use this network resource. Contact blah blah blah. A Remote procedure call(RPC) protocall error occured. The linux machine has no login names, no firewalls, and nothing to stop anything on the network from viewing it's shared folder. It sees the device through the network GUI, but not on the net view command.Any help would be awesome. Thanks

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest you try the following on the Windows 7 side: 1. Set the following Registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\LMCompatibilityLevel” to “1”. For more information, please refer to: LmCompatibilityLevel Note: If there is no the “LMCompatibilityLevel” key, please create it as DWord and set the value to 1. 2. Adjust sharing settings to see if it helps: 1) Go to “Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center\Advanced sharing settings”. 2) Under “File sharing connections”, select “Enable File Sharing for Devices that Use 40 or 56-bit encryption”. 3) Under “Password protected sharing”, select “Turn off password protected sharing”. 4) Save above changes. Considering this issue is related to Linux and we have limited resources about it, if the issue persists, it is also recommended that you contact the support of the Linux system for help. Thanks.
