any comments from the gurus? He might not really have been a guru, but a guyrecently told methe world will end before Oct 22. I think he was actually a disciple. He was wearing sackcloth and carrying a sign. A dripping hand painted sign. With misspellings. On a busy street corner. So I sure won't shudder about something as trivial as a chkdsk /rbug. Which btw, I haven't used in at least 2 years.

Read this articlehttp://infoworld.com/d/windows/critical-windows-7-bug-risks-derailing-product-launch-330any comments from the gurus? sgopus - Smells like FUD to me... Ed Bott's analysis actually makes a lot of sense to me.. Steven Sinofsky's response - that it's designed to make that process faster - makes sense. How much RAM should it use? 40 KB? Please...! On a 1 TB drive, you'd be there ALL MONTH waiting for it to finish... We're in the age of HUGE hard drives (yeah... I know, 10 years from now, we'll look back and call a 2 TB drive dinky) so we might as well take advantage of the system and get the job done faster.

The sky is not falling.A nut fell from the tree and hit him in the head. When you run check disk its because you have a problem you want to fix now,you don't start it and keep running programs, you Waite until its done fixing the drive. They may need a patch to cut down the memory usage but this is nothing.

Exactly. In the unlikely event you need to use it, close programs first, do the job, then reboot afterwards. Simple.
