RDP mouse/keyboard inputs not working, connection resets

hey everyone. tryed to find any thing about this but either i suck at searching or theres just not alot about this.

i recently formated from win7 over to win8.1 pro since then i have been having an issue when i rdp from work where my mouse is working fine then i change focus off of my rdp session for a min or more and when i comeback over to it i can see timers and things ticking away (have a mmorpg running can see chat and things going on to prove the connection is working has a clock that shows seconds) so what im seeing is in real time but no inputs are working wait about 30 seconds or so then i get a reconnect message and then everything's back to normal. from work i rdp from a win7 enterprise system on a corp net.

this issue never happend at all when i was on win7 at home but the frame rate was way way lower. im guessing the rdfx thing is why this is so much better now but i have no idea.

thanks for any help!

Lets check to see what the process is by running WPR>

In order to diagnose your problem you will need to download and install the below

Install the WPT (windows Performance Toolkit)  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30652 Help with installation (if needed) is here

When you have, open an elevated command prompt and type the following  WPRUI.exe (which is the windows performance recorder) and check off the boxes for the following:

First level triage (if available), CPU usage, Disk IO.

If your problem is not CPU or HD then check off the relevant box/s as well (for example networking or registry)  Please configure yours as per the below snip

Click Start

Let it run for 60 secs or more and save the file (it will show you where it is being saved and what the file is called)
Zip the file and upload to us on Onedrive (or any file sharing service) and give us a link to it in your next post.

Hi,

After you update to Windows 8.1, have you update the drivers?

Did your keyboard work fine?

Please try to get the mouse back by simply pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete then hit ESC and now you can see the mouse.

thanks,

yea drivers are all good, i checked them over a few times.

i tested the keyboard and it also does not work. that is until it completes a re-connection 30-60 sec later. its as if when i click back to the rdp window its in a sort of sleep mode, again the video is rendering in real-time but no inputs are active, ~30 seconds passes all the while i can see time ticking by in the session but cant interact with it. black screen reconnect occurs everything's working then..

i also did try to ctrl+alt+del - esc to no avail as no keyboard functions are getting through to the other end.

so strange.

i have also noticed that sometimes when i first focus the rdp session it will momentary work as i can see the mouse pointer changing in response to the places on the window im hovering. like a corner for re sizing ect but only for a couple of seconds.

never had any thing like this when it was win7.
