RDP Client Keyboard Mapping not detected by remote destination host.
On a Windows 7 SP1 client upon RDP connection to remote servers that in the past detected the DVORAK keyboard mapping on the client suddenly no longer detect this. For many years I have used the dvorak keymapping and the remote servers detect this and
accomodate. Now when I connect to the same servers from the same client and type it comes out qwerty when I'm typing Dvorak.. This is NOT happening on all my clients just this particular client. I have many Windows 7 clients with and without service pack 1
and they are fine. Have Binged and Googled for a solution to this problem to no avail. Any Suggestions?

Hi,
Please check the settings on the remote computer to see if it's using a Dvorak keyboard. Go to Control Panel ->Regional and Language Options and click
on the General tab. In the Default input languages box, click on the Details button. Take a look in the Default input language box and see what keyboard layout is being used. You may need to restart the remote computer for the changes to take effect.
Also, please check if the information in the following thread helps:
Force
a keyboard layout via policy

Then I suggest migrating all of your server to 2008R2 when practical
Server 2003 is fossilizing already in extended support

OK.. Thanks for that.. I'm about 20 servers into a 100 server migration, replacing hardware because I'm going from 32 to 64 bit platforms, It will be quite awhile before all of remaining production servers have been moved to 2k8 R2.. Was hoping that someone
might have seen this problem before.Regards, Carl

When I connect from this particular machine, the keymapping never changes from en-us, the default behavior is to load the incoming connections keymapping, and this works fine when I connect from another Windows 7 box to these servers. But when I connect
from this machine the en-us keymap persists.
Thanks for the info, however it seems like the posts are about ignoring the incoming connections keymap and retaining the existing mapping. This is what is happening to my connections from this machine now, but the registry key that sets this behavior
is not set (also that would be affecting all of my logins from what ever machine I logged in from).
So I guess the simple answer is to rebuild this machine. ugh..Regards, Carl
