RDC from Windows 7 Client to SBS 2003
I am trying to connect a new desktop with Windows 7 Ultimate to an SBS 2003 Server via a VPN (PPTP). The connection to the hardware VPN device works well using the Windows 7 VPN connection. When I use the RDC client to connect to the server, I get the following message: Your computer could not connect to another console session on the remote computer because you already have a console session in progress. I have successfully used the same RDC setting for years to connect from both XP machines and Vista machines over the same VPN. I am looking for directions on what might be good avenues to resolve the issue

Please temporary disable or uninstall the firewall and anti-virus software to see if the issue can be resolved. If the issue persists, please check the following settings for Remote Desktop in Windows 7: 1. Go to Start, right click on the Computer and then click Properties. 2. Click Remote settings on the left pane. 3. Check "Allow Remote Assistance connections to this computer". 4. Select "Allow connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure). 5. Click Ok. If the issue still exists, please use the IP address instead if you are using the user name to connect and vice versa. I followed your instrutions above and received the exact same error message on the Windows 7 machine when trying to connect to Server 2003. I use the IP address of the server and not the server name. I can ping the ip address and get the appropriate response. Still not connected.
