It's a puzzlement, why leak it at all, why download it (because it, the leaked versionchecks Microsoft to verify itselfetc), no really, I'm confus-ed. Last time I asked someone deleted, So props/apologies in advance. I'd download it too, if I didn't mistrust.

Well the news isn't old to those outside of the inside loop. The Windows 7 Team Blog only release the news a day and a half ago, on05:37 PM Friday, Apr 24, 2009.http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/windows7/archive/2009/04/24/windows-7-release-candidate-update.aspx@ChitbillAs I understand it, this is an official download, not a leaked download. You should be able to legally download RC1 from Microsoft on May 5th, (probably for a period of days).

do you know the build number of RC1?
April 26th, 2009 4:40pm

7825 But seriously, I d/l'ed 7057 and 7077 but never did anything with them - 7000 just works! Huge kudos to MS teams!!! yes, as soon as RC official is out (not torrent), I will grab it and install it, though I hear there's not a lot of difference - no big surprise - 7000 was so good - MS teams outdid themselves!!! KUDOS! Kris

That and anyone who's got bad intentions can take the opportunity to maybe do something bad with them - like spike it with some malware. It might NOT have been the original leaker's intention, but someone else on the chain could easily take the ISO, spike it with something, and pass it on. Blame it on our short attention spans, chronic commerical TV viewing habits, etc...

And, 36 hours is old news. Had you looked here, on this forum, rather than theregister, you could have been as up-to-date as we are, only 36 hours earlier. Additionally, trusting the press is a gamble.Doc

It would seem Microsoft has full control over their product, and full capabiliy of tracking it.So, what is the meaning of leaked ?

Additionally, trusting the press is a gamble.Doc I did look at the topic titles in 'Windows 7 Miscellaneous', but nothing stood out. There is onethread about 'Windows 7 RC', with an April18thpost from 'John_Barnett MVP'in itthat said: "I haven't seen the notification myself on MSDN but from other newsgroups I gather May 5th was the date mentioned. So a little more patience is needed. This date, incidentally is for MSDN subscribers 'not' for the public release." I wouldn't exactly call that the definitive answer, in fact it appears to have an error when it says: "May 5th was the date mentioned.....for MSDN subscribers 'not' for the public release."In the original link I posted from 'The Register', there was a link to the Windows 7 Team Blog.I included thatlink in my secondpost of this thread. On that link, dated Friday,it says: "Im pleased to share that the RC is on track for April 30th for download by MSDN and TechNet subscribers. Broader, public availability will begin on May 5th."I suppose this information issomewhere else on social.technet.microsoft.com as well, but this seems like the place to postsuch news in the Windows 7 Beta Forums.

If there are any announcements for that forum just click the Title of the announcement to expand the post and see the information. This one is called "Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) Update"Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Beta Ronnie Vernon MVP

My apologies. I seemed to have missed that Announcement in Windows 7 Installation, Setup, and Deployment Forum . Yeah, me too. I am a member of several forum websites and in all of them I only browsea fewsubforum catagoriesI am interested in. I don't have time to browse everything. I have never browsed the Windows 7 Installation, Setup, and Deployment Forumhere. It just wasn't a forum topic that interested me personally. The title didn't clue me in that upcoming news about future releases would be there. Well, now I know better.
