Questions on Reverse number Lookup from Outlook contacts

Hi Experts,

Please have a look at the below scenarios:

1. Users A and B or corporate users. User As mobile number is published in AD and included within lync contact card hence available within lync address book of all other users. User A joins a meeting organised by User B from his mobile.
2. User C is an external PSTN user (not in corporate AD) and User B has added User As Name and phone number (in E.164) as an outlook contact. User A joins User Bs meeting from PSTN.

Questions:

1. Is the name resolution (Reverse number look up) will also depend on the outlook contacts?
2. If so, what logic it follows in the background?

Please advise. Many thanks.

Hi SBHV,

To answer your questions.

1. Yes.

2. Lync will use both the MAPI and EWS connections to check the contacts information.

Specifically, Lync checks the participant(Phone Number) by using GAL first, if the number does not match any record in GAL, then Lync will check the number in Exchange Mailbox contact list. If it matches the record in contact list, then the participant name will be displayed in Lync meeting.

Best regards,

Eric

I'm marking the reply as answer as there has been no update for a couple of days.

If you come back to find it doesn't work for you, please reply to us and unmark the answer.

Best regards,
