Question on backups
Hey guys, I have a stupid question and hopefully someone can answer it. If I move my backups from my internal drive to a USB drive, will I be able to point to them in an event of a restore? I noticed that the backup utility does not allow you to specify any folder. It just backs up your drive wherever it finds an extra drive using the root directory. -Esteban"There's a time and place for that. The time is... Never. You can figure out the place on your own".

Backups to an external drive (USB, f.e.) are always better than to an internal drive, by obvious reasons (HD crash...). So, they are definitely supported. But it would be easier if you change your backup settings to the new location, instead of "moving" backups on your own. You can do that, too, but you can't use the "restore" menu from "backup and restore", then ("backup and restore" doesn't know that you moved the files). In that special case, you must double-click on the %username% file with a backup icon on your HD and manually restore the files from there. A system repair disc is only needed if you lost your OS and have to restore the system image from somewhere."I think there is a world market for maybe five computers. (Thomas J. Watson, Sr.)

Ok, I'll give it a try. I can create a new backup on the external USB drive but I'm too lazy. I noticed that my backups are taking about 300GB which are big. I'll run out of space on my 1 tyrabyte drive. Thank you!"There's a time and place for that. The time is... Never. You can figure out the place on your own".
