Publisher Not Verified in XP Mode
I've seen several posts regarding this"feature" after installing SP2 on Win XP. My issue seems to be a little different. I am running Win 7 RTM with Virtual XP Mode. When I try to run one of our business apps, Macola Progression Workflow Explorer, I get the publisher not verified warning twice. Once when I dbl-click the shortcut and again when that exe calls for the second exe.(pwe.exe checks that the sql client is installed and the ODBC connection exists and calls VBMacExe.exe) The part that confuses me is that all of our machines except this one are running Win XP SP3 with IE8 and none get the message. The virtual XP was added to the domain, and is running with an authenticated user logged in. Ithas all drives mapped exactly as on the physical XP boxes, andhad no errors during the install of the prerequisiteSQL client or the app client. Only during execution of the shortcut, which points to a mapped drive (H:\macapps\macsql\pwe.exe) does the warning appear. I am not sure what is differentthat makes this happen inthe virtual xp and not the physical xp. I have tried adding the "site" to the trusted sites and to the intranet zone and setting those zones to low security. I also edited the local policy to include .exe in the low riskfile typesand set default risk level to low. (I know that's not a good permanent solution for security reasons but I just wanted to try everything) I should state out front that I am not an IT guru. I only know what I've learned through trial and error, reading forums, etc. So I apologize in advance if I ask what seems to be a stupid question or for clarification ofwhat wouldnormally be considered a basic concept.
