Prompt for password when I open laptop lid
I've been looking around everywhere but cannot seem to figure out how to do this. When I walk away from my laptop I always close the lid and when I come back I want to be prompted to enter my password but I don't want the laptop to go into sleep mode or hibernate when I close the lid. All I want is to be prompted for my password when I open the lid again, so something like switching users would do (not stop any running tasks or programs, just bring me back to the user selection page) Thanks for any help

Hi, Please understand if your computer joined the domain, it would always ask for password when open the lid. Now please change Power Option settings to disable sleep function. 1) Right Click the power icon on your taskbar and select "Power Options". 2) Next to your active/selected Power Option, Click "Change Plan Settings". 3) Click "Change Advanced Power Settings". 4) Under "Power Buttons and Lid", make sure "Lid Close Action" is set to "Do Nothing". If that is not the case, then it could be due to some Power Management options in the system BIOS. I also want my laptop to prompt for a password when I open the lid and bring it out of sleep mode. I checked the power options and it is set to do this but also says it is a change settings option that is unavailable. I click to change and get prompted for administrator password and makes no difference. I haven't tried this in Admin. I am not on a domain
