Prolems with ICS, and other networking problems
I've had quite a few problems related to networking and Windows 7 Enterprise RTM. ICS in particular has been the most problematic. I set up ICS to share my Ethernet based Internet connection over my Intel WiFi based connection and computers connecting over WiFi were unable to obtain an IP address and the network was identified by Windows 7 as "Unidentified Network" and as "public" seemling with no Internet access. There were no concrete solutions, it seemed just resetting and testing new settings, passwords, static IPs and the like eventually got it working. I'm still unable to get my Wii or Nintendo DS to connect over WiFi to use ICS. Internet access on the machine has been broken itself several times, randomly Internet Explorer will be unable to display a page but after a reload it works fine. ThenI had a domain controller problem that did something to group policy that turned User Account Control onto the maximum setting and I was unable to adjust it and many other settings, and it seemed I was barred from getting true administrative access. I have got most of it working alright but am still getting error messages in the event log, the main one is as follows:The ICS_IPV6 failed to configure IPv6 stack 34001Log Name: SystemSource: Microsoft-Windows-SharedAccess_NATDate: 9/8/2009 8:04:34 PMEvent ID: 34001Task Category: NoneLevel: ErrorKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: xeeDescription:The ICS_IPV6 failed to configure IPv6 stack.Event Xml:<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="Microsoft-Windows-SharedAccess_NAT" Guid="{A6F32731-9A38-4159-A220-3D9B7FC5FE5D}" EventSourceName="ipnathlp" /> <EventID Qualifiers="0">34001</EventID> <Version>0</Version> <Level>2</Level> <Task>0</Task> <Opcode>0</Opcode> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2009-09-09T03:04:34.000000000Z" /> <EventRecordID>109883</EventRecordID> <Correlation /> <Execution ProcessID="0" ThreadID="0" /> <Channel>System</Channel> <Computer>xee</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData Name="IP_ICS_IPV6_LOG_CONFIG_IPV6_STACK_FAILED"> </EventData></Event>Another warning that might be related:Log Name: SystemSource: Microsoft-Windows-SharedAccess_NATDate: 9/8/2009 8:58:17 PMEvent ID: 34005Task Category: NoneLevel: WarningKeywords: ClassicUser: N/AComputer: xeeDescription:The ICS_IPV6 was unable to allocate bytes of memory. What do you think is causing this error and how might i fix it?

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: Please disable IPv6 on the computer and see how it works: How to disable certain Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) components in Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT

nice. I have just encountered the same error message, and was searching for more info. When I came upon your most useful advice. What an wonderful answer, perhaps to all of life's problems. Computer not working...don't use it. Brilliant, why didn't I think of that?
