Programs such as MSNmessenger, Skype, Steam, etc. don't recognize internet connection.
I have a problem with network connection to applications, not sure if these are called 3rd party applications, such as MSNmessenger, Skype, Steam, and WorldOfWarcraft? All of those kinds of programs that use internet connection apart from an internet browser do not recognize my internet connection. My internet browsers such as Internet Explorer and Google Chrome work except for Mozilla Firefox. And this is on Lenovo Thinkpad T400 with a Windows XP Professional.I am sure this is not a router problem nor my internet service provider's problem because I own another laptop. The laptop is a Dell Vostro 1500 with Windows Vista Premium 32-bit and it as no problem like this. Anybody know how to open this blockage? 1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi HolyKnight1121, ·What is the service pack installed on your computer?·Do you have any security software installed?·Do you receive any error message or error code when you try to connect the programs to internet?·What is the kind of internet connection you have? 1. Disable any security software and firewall on the computer temporarily and then try to connect the program to internet. To disable Windows Firewall, follow these steps:a. Click Start; click Run, type Firewall.cpl, and then click OK.b. On the General tab, click off (not recommended).c. Click OK. Important: Antivirus and firewall software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks. 2. Also follow the steps from the below link: Windows XP Internet Programs Cannot Connect to the Internet Through Broadband Connection:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307164 Regards:Samhrutha G S - Microsoft Support.Visit our Microsoft Answers Feedback Forum and let us know what you think.
