Programs not starting and/or working
OK here is my problem, i try to start a program but it does not start, indicator (hourglass) starts for about 3-5sec then nothing. This happens with at least 4 different programs (dvd burn/create/rip, wireless config util from trendNet and a few other programs), i have tried them in compatiblilty mode, xp vista. these programs work fine on my other win 7 and xp machines. i have the same virus protection in all machines. i have tried to reinstall all these programs with same results. Do i need to try and repair win 7? please dont say i have to reload win 7 have put too many programs on this machine, lol Specs are as follows: Win 7 home prem 6.1.7600 direct x 11 pentium d 930 2gb ram asus p5nsli motherboard

Hi, Thanks for the post! How did this happen? Did you receive any error message? Please enter the Safe Mode to see if the issue persists. If it works under Safe Mode, please try to Clean Boot to find which result in this problem. Note: Please make sure you open the Windows Update, there may be some updates are related to this situation. Please feel free to give me any update. No error message just the indicator(hourglass) then nothing. I have noticed that under task manager, processes, that the program is running for an additional 10 sec before it is shut down (or removed from task manager, processes). I keep all my windows up to date. OK i did a clean boot and still the programs will not work with nothing running but my virus protection (kaspersky, it rechecked it self back on in services). So i started my computer in safe mode and still the programs will not work. AAAARRRRGGGG !!! LOL

its ok, problems with computer can really be frustrating. :) i was thinking of exe file mis association but it certainly is not since you can at least run the cmd. It will help if you can check on your event viewer. It must be bulky by now so you may clear it first. Then try to run a program that doesnt run. then check on the applications log in the event viewer. Look for the red ones and paste it here. and bytheway, just to ensure this is not malware related although your security software may seem to be running fine, it still helps to run a PrevX scan you can download it from here http://info.prevx.com/download.asp?grab=prevxcsi. You may uninstall it right after the scan if it turns clean.

Hi, The current situation is a little complex, I need further information for troubleshooting: 1. When did this happen? 2. Which program encounter this issue? Please give me a list, they are may be in common. 3. If the computer always has the problem, please check those applications in compatibility mode to see if them work. I suspect they’re not compatible with Windows 7. In addition, please make sure your wireless LAN is compatible with Windows 7, find it here http://www.trendnet.com/support/os_compatability.asp If there’s no compatibility problems, please open the Event Viewer when you open some applications to find the record. Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. Hope it works.
