Program requires local administrator
Hi! We got all of our users locked down in Standard User Mode and so far all programs work, except one which requires administrativ privileges. Is there a way for users to still run the program as it should be, without raising their account to administrator? Could you shim the program and still use the program as it's suppose to?

You will have to figure out, which place of file system or registry the program attempts to alter and grant the users appropriate permissions to these locations. Finding these can be done either by asking the developer of the software or some tool like Process Explorer, Filemon, Regmon. Then it should work without granting them Administrator powers. I tried using the SUA wizard and it actually solved the problem, by using Force Admin shim. I'm gonna build and SDB by using Compatibility Administrator and try that out. I never thought the SUA wizard could solve a problem like that since, if you could bypass UAC by shimming the app, how secure would that be? I guess the program doesn't really need administrativ rights, it just wants to verify that you are. Best regards, Philip
