Profile issues in Windows 7 RC
Hi guys, We are currently testing Windows 7 RC (build 7100) within our domain environment, and we have stumbled across an issue with mapping the user's home directory. Environment: Windows Server 2008 AD domain. All member servers are also server 2008 boxes. All domain members (clients) are running Windows Vista Enterprise with SP2 Users All users have home folders and roaming profiles Symptoms: When the user logs into the Windows 7 client they cannot see their home directory, which is a network share on a 2008 file server. Instead, Windows creates a local profile under the C:\Users\%username% directory. Sometimes it completely fails with an error, creating a temporary profile for the user. The user can see other network drive mappings created as part of the log on process, e.g. for public shares, etc, etc. They can also browse via the UNC path to their network location \\servername\homedrive\%username%, etc, and read/write to their directories. Users do have roaming profiles and it make no difference if we use them or not. Things we have tried: We have logged in with the same credentials on a Windows Vista client (same hardware, OU, GPOs, and username) this works without any issues. Rebuilt the machine from scratch and placed in an OU with no policies applied to it - no joy Tried admin accounts and limited user accounts - no joy Everything else has worked flawlessly - we are thorughly impressed with Windows 7! Anyone else experiencing similar issues? Cheers
