Thank you for replying. It was a fresh install of Windows 7 into a separate partition which I have formatted. The message started coming up about 24 hours after the installation. I reinstalled Windows 7, but has made no difference.Do you possibly know a way to get rid of this?

Same problem. Fresh install. error message DwmhintDXUpdatein User32.dllI first installed windows 7 two days ago. Error message appeared shortly thereafter. Annoying but doesn't seem to affect anything else. Just click it and it goes away. I've installed numerous programs thereafter, but it first appeared after only data was transferred and first updates to windows installed. Windows updates (KB9 series)was installed. Too many other things to do than focus on this at this time. If you want to delete the updates one by one (they are chronologically listed) eventually you will get to the source. Oldflorida.
