Problems with windows update (configuration for installing)
Windows 7 home premium, HP Pavillon core i7-720m Shortly(few days) after installing SP1 for windows 7(maybe it's unrelated), I noticed that some updates were diffucult to install (they were reinstalling the same every day) , and I was doing them(some of) manually. My problems now are that when I start my computer, the system wants to install updates, the message is saying something like : " wait until the system 'configure' windows 7..." and the % of installation start.... but stays at 0 % (like running in circle or just doing nothing)... so I cant turn it on on normal mode. To write this, I turn on in safe mode... Did a restore point 10 days ago... nothing, the 0% start again, did antivirus, cccleaner...gonna try malwarebyte ,, somebody has an idea bfore sending it to the store?

You could infact turn off updates by going to ctrl panel>system & security>windows update. There shouldn't be any more prompt once you turn it off Alternatively you might want to uninstall sp1 if you suspect is the cause of the problem

I'm having the same problem, turning off the updates in my opinion is stupid. People want their computers to be up-to-date. I haven't found a solution yet.

Exactly the same problem - still searching for the solution. Have tried disconnecting USB storage device before booting (read this somewhere as a possible problem). In my case, the config attempt just gives up after about 10 minutes and let's me in, but then on shut down the same 4 updates are "installed" and the same config wait on next boot. Will continue researching and will post if and when I find a solution!

Mmm, just discovered SP1 hasn't installed - maybe that's why the other updates haven't worked, so will now install SP1 and see what happens...

you could open windows update once your able to get into your PC, and right click each of the offending files and select hide update, this should stop them from constantly attempting to install.

Hi danskaven, Regarding the issue , I recommend that you may restore your system to an earlier point , download and install the update manually. If the issue persists, run the following hotfix : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 Please also check the check BITS & WU service is work normally.
