Problems with running games and opening dxdiag
I'm having problems with a couple of games that crash on startup with Directx problems. Dxdiag also won't start as I'm getting an error "C;WindowszSysWOW64\d3d10.dll is either not designed to run in Windows or it contains an error". I've tried reinstalling directx several times with no effect. my video drivers are up to date. I tried running SFC/SCANNNOW from the Command Prompt and it came back with the following errors when trying to correct the directx files: 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002ed [SR] Beginning Verify and Repair transaction 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002ee Hashes for file member \SystemRoot\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-audio-acmcorecodecs_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_20ab31b25b1bf673\imaadp32.acm do not match actual file [l:24{12}]"imaadp32.acm" : Found: {l:32 b:SxtPeZHasIuBdnLgp3zj3oyQHiR13NfoXbdJXJ6qh8c=} Expected: {l:32 b:AV7sMeQpc16DVWpqcnp9fEJTSw9+C84B3CGvdrSPcm4=} 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002ef [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"imaadp32.acm" of Microsoft-Windows-Audio-ACMCoreCodecs, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f0 Hashes for file member \SystemRoot\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-branding-engine_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_e9402ec0c6b7a25b\winbrand.dll do not match actual file [l:24{12}]"winbrand.dll" : Found: {l:32 b:fSrTCYZePbo0wJnLkTon97MyzVPAsBKAWxel5vLhuZo=} Expected: {l:32 b:ZDBTRrBuwUl2EwsLgPFLTVq2PlsqanuHLsnOK/j63NI=} 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f1 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"winbrand.dll" of Microsoft-Windows-Branding-Engine, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f2 Hashes for file member \SystemRoot\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-directx-direct3d10_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_ef8ebbc22eff9332\d3d10.dll do not match actual file [l:18{9}]"d3d10.dll" : Found: {l:32 b:PFe92QYsb81IDc4LBgWAIDAlb9ZzCfZ1eGMYjnsmGpY=} Expected: {l:32 b:tDj341QqZLs0Vtjgw9AftCa3eBFra0DRX3306dBtHkg=} 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f3 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:18{9}]"d3d10.dll" of Microsoft-Windows-DirectX-Direct3D10, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f4 Hashes for file member \SystemRoot\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-scripting.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_en-us_8b02f732b8c73c0d\cscript.exe.mui do not match actual file [l:30{15}]"cscript.exe.mui" : Found: {l:32 b:sQkUgF7C/yeqMroUw3Mc4LzW5RH9nl3AjLmV9F4pyJc=} Expected: {l:32 b:Un2I/vLlZwuU38Wn6pttoBAOqu32AJ59OUPjzvOnjmE=} 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f5 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:30{15}]"cscript.exe.mui" of Microsoft-Windows-Scripting.Resources, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture = [l:10{5}]"en-US", VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f6 Hashes for file member \SystemRoot\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-audio-acmcorecodecs_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_20ab31b25b1bf673\imaadp32.acm do not match actual file [l:24{12}]"imaadp32.acm" : Found: {l:32 b:SxtPeZHasIuBdnLgp3zj3oyQHiR13NfoXbdJXJ6qh8c=} Expected: {l:32 b:AV7sMeQpc16DVWpqcnp9fEJTSw9+C84B3CGvdrSPcm4=} 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f7 [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"imaadp32.acm" of Microsoft-Windows-Audio-ACMCoreCodecs, Version = 6.1.7600.16385, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f8 [SR] This component was referenced by [l:202{101}]"Microsoft-Windows-Foundation-Package~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.7600.16385.WindowsFoundationDelivery" 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002f9 Hashes for file member \??\C:\Windows\SysWOW64\imaadp32.acm do not match actual file [l:24{12}]"imaadp32.acm" : Found: {l:32 b:SxtPeZHasIuBdnLgp3zj3oyQHiR13NfoXbdJXJ6qh8c=} Expected: {l:32 b:AV7sMeQpc16DVWpqcnp9fEJTSw9+C84B3CGvdrSPcm4=} 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002fa Hashes for file member \SystemRoot\WinSxS\x86_microsoft-windows-audio-acmcorecodecs_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7600.16385_none_20ab31b25b1bf673\imaadp32.acm do not match actual file [l:24{12}]"imaadp32.acm" : Found: {l:32 b:SxtPeZHasIuBdnLgp3zj3oyQHiR13NfoXbdJXJ6qh8c=} Expected: {l:32 b:AV7sMeQpc16DVWpqcnp9fEJTSw9+C84B3CGvdrSPcm4=} 2010-07-10 12:19:42, Info CSI 000002fb [SR] Could not reproject corrupted file [ml:48{24},l:46{23}]"\??\C:\Windows\SysWOW64"\[l:24{12}]"imaadp32.acm"; The laptop came preinstalled with Windows 7 and I have the product licence key but not a copy of windows. Is there anywhere that I can download Windows 7 so I can do a clean install?

Open start menu and look for a folder with the laptop company and restore or recovery options. You may be able to restore it with the recovery program from your computer manufacturer. See the documentation.

Hi, Is the system preinstalled by HP or by company computer administrator? If the system is installed by HP, there is usually an OEM recovery disk and you can use the disc to restore the system. If the system is installed by administrator, please contact him to get the installation disc and perform an In-place upgrade to repair the system. In-Place upgrade (Repair install) =========== 1. Start the computer by using the current Operating System. 2. Insert the Windows 7 DVD in the computer's DVD drive. 3. Use one of the following procedures, as appropriate: If Windows automatically detects the DVD, the Install now screen appears. Click Install now. If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps: a. Click the Start Button, type Drive:\setup.exe in the start search box and then click OK. Note: Drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD drive. b. Click Install now. 4. When you reach the "Which type of installation do you want?" screen, click Upgrade to upgrade the current operating system to Windows 7. Thanks, NovakPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
