Problems with running easy-transfer
I ahve an HP Pavilion with 3gb, Core 2 Quad Q6700 (K) 2.66 GHz, 15 month old, I am running Vista Home Premium, 32 bit, Norton IS 2010 is turned off. When I try to run the Vista-32 to Win 7 easy transfer I get an error message from the Windows Update Standalone Installer saying: "The update does not apply to your system. I checked to make sure that I am running in a 32 bit environment. I rebooted the computer, no other software is running. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

Hi, If Update for Windows (KB928635) was already installed, this error might occur. You can run the Windows easy transfer directly from Windows vista. Or use the following workaround.Windows Easy Transfer (Migwiz.exe) is installed with Windows 7 and is available on the Windows 7 DVD in the Support\Migwiz directory. You can transfer settings and files from any other computer running Windows Vista or Windows XP by using Windows Easy Transfer. Insert the Win7 DVD to Windows vista, when running Windows Easy Transfer from the DVD, double click MigSetup.exe to run the application.

Make sure that you have upgraded to Windows Vista SP1 or higher. Windows Easy Transfer only supports Windows XP SP2 or higher version and Windows Vista SP1 or higher version. You need to install Windows Vista SP1 or later update. To download Windows Vista upgrade package, please refer to:Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)How to obtain the latest Windows Vista service pack After installing Service Pack, let's download Windows Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer from either of the following links:Windows Easy Transfer Windows Easy Transfer for transferring from Windows Vista (32 bit) to Windows 7.Then run Windows Easy Transfer to see how it works.Best RegardsDale
