Yes, its a Microsoft mouse. My thinking is that Windows 7 would have Windows 7 drivers for Microsoft Mice. I have had the same problem on two other computers that used Logitech trackballs. After using a new driver from Logitech the problem went away.

Also my son's boss was having the same problem and he went back to XP. Now my son wants to also go back to XP.

Hi mrhoads,Actually Windows 7 doesn't have windows 7 drivers for the Microsoft mouse. I use the Microsoft wireless laser mouse 6000 and the Microsoft wireless laser keyboard 6000 v2 and Windows 7 installs generic drivers for both. To get full functionality out of the mouse and keyboard I have to download and install windows 7 drivers from the Microsoft website.see this link: http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/windows7/support.mspxJohn Barnett MVP: Windows XP Associate Expert: Windows Desktop Experience: Web: http://www.winuser.co.uk; Web: http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org; Web: http://vistasupport.mvps.org;

Hi John, I've had a similar problem. Each time I have installed the software (either from the CD, or from the support website in your message above http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/windows7/support.mspx , and then plugged in the USB, the mouse has not functioned, and I eventually get a message, "The wireless mouse signal quality is low." I tried installing the mouse on my laptop and desktop, using, as I said, both the CD and the support page, but get the same "low quality signal" message. We also tried installing it on a Dell desktop, and same problem, so I don't think it our hardware (same message when we attempted to install and run it from one laptop and two desktops). Any fixes for this? I tried all the logical steps in the troubleshooting window, even turning the mouse upside down and putting right under the USB port! However, I am thinking, what if that works? Now I have a mouse upside down behind my computer! Anyhow, any fixes/help would be much appreciated. Larry

Hi Larry,I haven't come across a 'fix' yet. I must admit that I too am experiencing numerous 'low quality signal' errors. New batteries have been placed in my Microsoft Wireless Laser mouse 6000 at least three times within the last few months and nothig seems to solve the problem. Incidentally the rpoblem isn't occuring on Windows XP or Windows Vista. I agree with you that it is not the hardware that is at fault but, more than likely, the new driver. The only problem is Microsoft may not categorise the problem as highly as users who are having problems. System vulnerabilities take precedence over the 'slightly irritating' problems which we are currently experiencing. Hopefully Microsoft will eventually get round to sorting the problem out and issuing a new set of drivers. Thanks John, Since my new wireless mouse (actually I ordered two since it was such a good deal) came out of the box, I suspected batteries, but I replaced them during troubleshooting and it did not remedy the problem. Thanks for suggesting the fix has more than likely to be with a new driver. Is there any way of knowing when MS may address this issue and write new drivers? Larry

Hi Larry,Sadly it is like asking 'how long is a piece of string' when it comes to how long it will take Microsoft to remedy the problem. Like any software developer the most pressing bugs/problems are dealt with first and then others are looked at according to there position in the bug/problem list. It also depends upon how many people are also having the problem; the more people the quicker a fix is usually brought out; the less people the slower the procedure and, in some cases, a fix is never developed. The only thing I can say is 'Patience is a virtue.' We just have to be patient.
