Problems with Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
I have a Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller(which has been installed with the latest drivers)which I appear to be having problems with. I am using Windows Vista Home Basic Version 6.0 (Build 6001: Service Pack 1). When I log on Iam initially unable to log ontothe network. I get a message thatsays Network Adapter not installed. If I then reboot the machine two or three times itdoes connect to the network. I did try resetting the network adapter which didn't solve the probllemeither.I am not entirely sure whether this is a hardware problem or a software problem - I would probably say the former. Anyone out there had a similar experience. Grateful for any thoughts.Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere and I have missed it. Thanks. Regards Dave

Hello David, Here are some important information that I need for further troubleshoot: 1. When did this problem begin to occur; 2. The system information of your computer, especially the motherboard. 3. When the computer fails to connect to Internet, open Device Manager and check the network adapter status. The content of status. Besides, there are some suggestions for you: 1. Uninstall the driver currently used then boot your system into Safe Mode with Network, install the most updated one. 2. Update your BIOS, as BIOS is very important for some devices reliability. Hope it helps! Cheers, Lionel

Lionel. Thanks for your reply. As to 1 above - the problem occurred probably a couple of months after I bought the computer. As to 2 above: System Manufacturer: AcerSystem Model: Aspire T180BIOS: )Phoenix - Award WorkstationBIOS v6.00PG If I open the"System information" and go toProblem devices there are two entries: The first is a Microsoft6to4 Adapter andthe error code says "The device is not working properlybecause Windows cannot load the driver" The second is a Microsoft 6to4 Adapter #2 with the same error message I might add that the problem devices appearseven if I am connectedto the internet so it seemsthat these problem devices are not linked with the newtwork adapter problem? Is there any other information you require with regard to System Information? As to 3 above - when I check the status it says "network adapter not installed' - in fact you know it hasn't worked because on the quick launch toolbar you get an "x" displayed on the network icon I might add that I have only in the last week updated the driver for the network adapter and the problem was still there when I updated it. If you require anything else give me a shout and thanks again. I will try your suggestions contained in the last paragraph. Regards Dave

bring it up in the device manager. Go to the tab that says "allow this device to be turned off to conserve power" uncheck that. I have found that that can be an issue at times.RDrangerdave

Hi all! I am experiencing the exact same problem as Dave. I've been looking for a solution for hours but still no luck... I tried rangerdave's soltuion but it didn't resolve the issue... I have an Asus P5K-E WiFi/AP motherboard with the integrated Marvell Yukon 88E8056 network card. My BIOS is up to date. I'm running Windows 7 and I have installed the latest driver found on Marvell's website. I've tried various versions of the driver, and I've also tried letting Windows install the drivers automatically. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm tired of having to reboot my computer in order to get the network working! Cheers, Nassim

I had the similar problem with P5K-E Wifi motherboard and Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller in Windows 7. The solution was quite simple. The ping fluxuated from low to 200 - 300 ms. Fix was I remove all over clockings from Bios. If you are using N.O.S setting. Put this back to Auto. It seems that the automatic FSB changing/"optimizing" causes the PCI bus to screw up the network card. I hope this helps. At least my problmes are gone. I use the default network driver version 11.22.3.9. Also removed Ipv 6.
