Problems with Lan running age of empires 2 conquerors
I have 3 desktop computers, 1 running windows 7 and the other 2 running xp sp3, and 2 laptops, 1 running windows 7 and the other running xp sp3. A few days ago we were playing conquerors ( 1 on the windows 7 desktop and 1 on the xp sp3 desktop ) and had no problems playing the game. I have had all computers running the game just fine in the past. The next day i tried to run the game again, 1 on the windows 7 desktop and the other on the xp sp3 desktop. Trying both ways of joining the game neither could join each other. We could see each others created game in the multiplayer box but it fails trying to join. We can click join game and it starts the process but never makes it in. This is the first time we had this problem. Like I said it worked just fine the day before but now its not working. A wierd note is that all the xp sp3 machines have no problem joining each other and the windows 7 machines have no problems joining each other but between the 2 versions we just started having problems. Can anyone help with this? Thanks

Hi, Did you make any changes before the issue happen? Did you try to host with others map for a check? Have you tried to disable the firewall for a test? In my opinion, I would like suggest you try the following suggestions: 1. Reset your TCP/IP first. 2. Try to execute this command: ipconfig /flushdns. 3.Restart your computer in Clean Boot mode. 4.Restore your router to factory setting. 5.Perform System Restore. 6.Reinstall the game for check. Before i started going through any troubleshooting techniques, I'm not a pc wiz just an average know a little bit of stuff guy, I wanted to test something. I wanted to see if empire earth 2 would work. I launched the game on a windows 7 pc and an xp sp3 pc. The computers connected just fine. Does this information help at all? Nothing has changed from 1 day to the next day on these computers. When we would play the conquerors, either computer could host and we would have no problems. The very next day, we could not connect the computers to play. I have tried hosting on different computers and the other computers could see the game host, but when trying to join we would see the screen stating we are joining multiplayer game and to press escape if we haven't joined in 15 seconds but we let it go until it takes us back to the multiplayer screen to select host game and says unable to join multiplayer game. Like i said before, if im trying to play the game on computers of the same windows operating system i have no problems, but its when i try to play the game on 2 different windows operating systems. Thats why i wanted to see if i could play a different game and i had no problems playing. What could cause this to happen from being able to play 1 day to not being able to play the next only on the conquerors game? Thanks again for the input and i hope my input helps to figure this problem out.

Try turning off the firewall on all the machines to pinpoint the issue. Go to start > run > and type in "services.msc" Go to the windows firewall service and turn it off. (The reason I say to do it this way is because if you stop the firewall through control panel the service still runs)
