Problems with Home Network Sharing after Upgrade to Win7 from Vista64
Upgraded to Win7 from Vista64 and now cannot access other WinXP machines on Home Network. All machines had been XP,added a new desktop (Vista64)that is hardwired to linksys WRT300N Wireless router. All other PC's connect to the home network with wireless and even with the upgrade to Vista64 network stayed intact. Once I upgraded to Win7 on the hardwired desktop I now cannot see the other PC's on the network therefore I lost file and print sharing capabilities. I tried just about all imagineable.. I also understand that HomeNetworking option on Win7 is for machines all using Win7 OS. Nothing had been changed on wireless machines, but I checked everything anyway. All are within the same WorkGroup.Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

I seemed to have solved the problem myself.. It seemed to be the Router...Rebooted! After all that! Can see the other PC's and Shared files now.. Now trying to get my HPLaserjet 6P to talk with Win7 over a Parallel to USB cable... Next adventure... Nothing ever goes as easy as advertised....

It seems that the remote PC's can see the Main Win7 Hardwired PC, but the Main has issues seeing the remotes. It seems to come up for a bid after I reboot the router, but does not stay for long..Router checks out ok and can ping all machines. It just seems to be that the Win7 Machine cannot see the other 3 Wireless XP machines. When I look the other way from the XP machines I can see Win7 shared files.. Printers though still an issue, I cannot see or access others printers attached to the XP machines and I could before I upgraded from Vista 64 and when the machine was an XP one.

I have the same issue or similar issue I have a laptop that is connected wirelessly and a wired desktop PC both with Windows 7. I can access the desktop and my external hard drive on the dekstop from the laptop. However when I try to connect to the laptop from the desktop it does not work, I can see it but cannot connect. The homegroup will only let me set it up on on but not the other and the workgroup names are the same. ANY IDEAS?? Please email me at cantstopunc@hotmail.com with any ideas.

I read up on another thread that someone got this to work by disabling anything on Win7 that had to do with IPv6 which I did on the config setup. Once I rebooted, this WORKED!!My Win7 Desktop and main PC can see all the remotes and each remote can see the Win7. After exhausting looking at the router which nothing there changed and successfully ping all machines to and from, the disabling of IPv6 worked.. So if you are having that problem this may help.. Not sure, but with Vista64 was not an issue and the only thing I did was upgrade, so it had to be Win7..it sure was..

This did not work, and everything I have read it seems like the homegroup issues are with firewalls and the settings, but yet I have disabled everything and still can not connect with the desktop.
