Problems with Fax and Scan
Fax and Scan from my Win7 Ultimate has given me various problems for some time. With some difficulty, I have been able to work around them: but now I’m stuck. Whenever I compose a fax of any kind and send it to any number in my contact list for a test, I get a box that says “The message could not be sent. The media is write-protected.” This happens as soon as hit the SEND button. What media -- the modem? My modem is a Zoom 3095 with the latest Microsoft driver. All of this was working a week or so ago. Device manager says the modem is working. I would reinstall Windows Fax and Scan; but since it’s a Windows component, I don’t know how to do that. Please tell me how to solve the problem or how to reinstall without reinstalling Windows. I am also open to just uninstalling Fax and Scan, especially if anyone can tell me about a reliable fax program for Windows 7. Gary Burton

Hi, The media should be the fax modem. Did you make any changes or configurations before the issue appear? Many users have fixed this issue by either restarting the Fax service or by disabling and enabling Windows Fax and Scan from Windows Features. Try the following steps and check the result. Step 1: Restart Fax service a. Click Start, type services.msc and hit enter. b. From the list of services, right click on Fax and click Stop. c. Double click on Fax, change the startup type to Automatic and click Start button. d. Click ok to apply the changes. e. Check if the issue persists. If the issue persists disable and enable the Windows Fax and Scan Step 2: Disable Windows Fax and Scan a. Click Start, type optionalfeatures and hit enter. b. From the list of items, expand "Print and Document Services" c. Uncheck "Windows Fax and Scan" d. Click ok and restart the computer for the changes to take effect. Step 3: Enable Windows Fax and Scan a. Click Start, type optionalfeatures and hit enter. b. From the list of items, expand "Print and Document Services" c. Place a check mark on "Windows Fax and Scan" d. Click ok and restart the computer for the changes to take effect. e. Check if the issue persists. Hope that helps.
