Problems resuming from suspension or hybernate
Hello! I am currently experiencing problems with the suspension and hybernate mode. Sometimes my computer resumes from suspension by itselft. On other times my computer will not resume properly neither from suspension nor hybernate mode. I've tried both hybrid suspension, pure suspension and hybernate. Most of the times, when it starts the resuming process the screen simply goes black, other times, the screen freezes completely twisted or with patterns like interference. The only option when it doesn't resume is to stop the frozen resuming process by reseting the machine and then the computer asks if I want to erase the resuming data and start a new session. I couldn't find a fix to this problem yet.

I'm also having a hibernate problem where I occasionally get a message that there is a problem with the hibernate file and I should contact the mfr. for a firmware update. HP doesn't have any updates posted for my dv3510nr laptop. I usually just answer to do a restart and ignore hibernate, as I don't want to risk any file corruptions.

Hi There are several well documented bugs in the Windows 7 RC build. The bug appears when a hardware/software component fails to re-initializewhen the system resumes from Sleep or Hibernation or will not enter the suspend state. This is a small list of other issues that have been seen. These bugshave only beenseen on specific systems that havecombinations of certain hardware/software installed. The only way we have to deal with these issues in the RC buildis to try and avoid using the Sleep/Hibernate functions as much as possible. If you experience this bug and still need to use the Sleep or Hibernate functions be aware that you could possibly lose any unsaved information in applications. The latest information we have is that these issues are fixed in the RTM build. See the following link for a list of other threads here where this topic and some fixes have been posted. sleep - Microsoft TechNet Forums Search Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

AG - There are a number of known issues with the sleep/hibernation features of Windows 7 RC.One of them has to do with the computer coming out of sleep/hibernation on it's own with no one at the controls. To diagnose this try the following:1.) Click the Start orb and type CMD in the box. Right-click on CMD at the top and Click on Run as Administrator.2.) Type Powercfg -DEVICEQUERY wake_armed >enter<3.) This will give you a list of devices that are able to wake the computer from sleep/hibernation mode. You might see a mouseor a network card/port listed.4.) Type PowerCFG -DEVICEDISABLEWAKE {name of device found in step 2 exactly as it showed up}For instance, on some systems you might see something like this:C:\Windows\system32>powercfg -devicequery wake_armedNVIDIA nForce Networking ControllerC:\Windows\system32>Powercfg -devicedisablewake NVIDIA nforce Networking ControllerThis should stop the computer waking up out of the blue. Note: Network adapters tend to be the most reliable culprits for this sort of behavior.
