Problems restoring windows.old
I have recently had my computer returned after being repaired with a new ethernet card. However, when I got it back nothing worked and it appears that the repairer decided to clean my computer by taking everything off and then reinstalling Vista with my set up disc. I notice that I have a windows.old folder which contains approx. 66 gb and so I'm hoping that if I restore this, my computer should be as it was before I sent it in for repair.I have printed out Article ID 933168 'How to restore a computer to a previous Windows installation after you install Windows Vista'. However, the problem I have is that when I reach Step 2 (Start the Recovery Environment) it wont let me do anything until I either update Vista or Customise the install. As I'm afraid to select either of these options, I'm wondering whether you can advise me on what to do. I'm not computer literate and am fumbling around on my own here so if you could answer as simply as possible, it would be greatly appreciated.Regards1 person needs an answerI do too

I have had another attempt at following the instructions in the Article and, in an attempt to make things clearer, this is a step-by-step account of what I did:-1. Inserted Windows Vista installation disc.2. Selected 'Install Now' upon which I was taken to a page where it asked me to install important updates.3. It then appeared to scan for the updates and the page appeared 'Accept licence terms', which I did.4. The next page asked 'What type of installation do you want?' but there was only the 'Custom' option available, which 'installs a clean copy of Windows or makes changes to disks and partitions but doesn't keep existing files, setting and programs.'This bears no resemblance to what appears to be quite straightforward in the Article and I feel I'm way out of my depth here.Regards
