Problems mapping network drive with 7 ultimate 64 bit.
I have tried relentlessly to get 7 to map a network drive. I have two NAS devices one in my home which works fine, I map to it via IP address. The other is the one I am having problems with. It is remote through Cisco's Anyconnect client. I can ping the device as well as login to the remote NAS's settings page and do anything I want with it that way. The problem is when I want to map the drive (with an IP address) 7 consistently gives me an error message. "The network path was not found." "Error code:0x80070035" - This is funny (strange behavior) not only can I find it through the command prompt by pinging, I can connect directly through a web browser to change settings on the device. Tonight I just figured out that if I run XP mode with Cisco's Anyconnect running on 7 I can map the network drive with absolutely no problems at all! Tell me that this is not an issue with 7 and I will say: 'you lie!' The incredibly strange thing is that by apparently some fluke on the initial install of 7 and after I got Cisco's Anyconnect up and running I was able to map the network drive, but after the session was terminated, I was only able to get 7 to map to it about 2 weeks later and since that time have had 0 success in mapping it. Until tonight, which I was able to map it through good 'ole XP mode! Now, I do not want to have to start XP mode EVERY time I need access to the NAS device and I shouldn't have to spend hours upon hours researching on the net to find a solution to my problem. I have tried all of the remedies people come up with like changing the security policies, yada yada yada, but to NO avail! If someone at MS can shed some light on the issue, or better yet, send out an UPDATE to FIX the problem it would be greatly appreciated. Please don't waste my time with bogus fixes that don't really fix the problem or may leave the computer wide open, I'm not interested in that sort of thing. Like I said I have tried all the "fixes" people have said worked for them on this site and elsewhere. But because it has been about a month since have tried to figure it out, I have noticed a substantial increase in the amount of people talking about similar issues with 7, so in my mind it definitely warrants a look at the problem from MS who in my opinion has a very good operating system in 7, but not perfect. Please MS strive for perfection and give us an update to fix the problem! You know just once I would like it if someone at a company that I buy a piece of hardware or software from could actually figure out what my problem was and fix it for me instead of me having to research and then think hey I'll ask the company who made it, they ought to know. Then ask, get frustrated because they don't really know what the heck they are talking about or they just give you a joke answer and then have to spend several hours and fix it myself! Unfortunately in this case, I have all but given up hope in finding a remedy, but I did have a glimmer of hope when XP mode mapped it perfectly. Which makes me feel like I've abandoned my good friend (XP) and traded her in for a prettier younger model with a few flaws!

Hi, Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP on the VPN client. 2. Set the following Registry key “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\LMCompatibilityLevel” to “1”. For more information, please refer to: LmCompatibilityLevel Note: If there is no the “LMCompatibilityLevel” key, please create it as DWord first. Considering this issue is related to Cisco Anyconnect and we have limited resources about it, please contact CISCO Support for help. Hi, Did this problem ever get resolved, I agree MS need to do something about this as I still have the problem after 4 months now since I upgraded to Windows 7 and its the only thing I cant solve. I need to use a 32 bit machine to copy files to/from my NAS onto the 64 bit machine, which sucks... So if anyone has a solution (and yes I have tried every suggestion out there and nothing works)???????????ckent
