Problems keep existing in RC
Hi Folks,I'm a bit dissapointed after installing the 32bit version. It took me a whole day to set things up again and nothing helped the previous probs. I installend in first instance the 64bit version, but that was not possible with Adobe CS4. A pitty :-(So I reinstalled the 32bit version RC.This is still not fixed:- windows don't remember size and position: there's no setting also.- MSN doesn't login automaticly - how about the dissapearing icons?Furthermore I'm very happy with W7, looking forward to buy the official release. So much better than XP or Vista.

What do you mean by the 64 bit version was notpossible with CS4? At the very least,Photoshop CS4 is a native 64 bit app and it runsexceptionally well on both Vista x64 and Windows 7 x64. Just curious....Stephen

Hi quadri-sMany of the bugs that were reported in Windows 7 Beta were not fixed in time for the RC Build. They are what they call "in the pipeline" which means that they are still active bugs andbeing worked on but not resolved yet.The main focus with the testing now is on regression bugs (things that worked in beta, but no longer work in RC).Look forall of the bugsfrom the betato be fixed by RTM.Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

That is very frustrating. There certainly does seem to be a great deal of inconsistency with respect to how the RC runs on different machines. I am running Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom (another 64 bit app) and they both run exceptionally well on the x64 RC on my primary machine. They ran fine under Vista x64 but are slightly faster with Windows 7. It is frustrating to hear that someone is trying to run the same apps on the same x64 RC and experiencing such different results. I still like (and am generally satisfied) with the RC but part of me really thinks it should have been labeled as Beta 2. Stephen

Well, again, a big dissapointment, when I found out today that the dissapearing icons is still a problem. Some shortcut icons dissapear from the desktop from time to time.I got that in the 7077 version, and hoped the RC would fix it.But it seems the RC fixed nothing so far. All that time for installing the beta, the RC64 and then the RC32 resultet in nothing so far.And believe me, I don't want to go back to XP :-D Even showing tumbnails from my NAS folders took ages there. Please microsoft, bring up that W7 quick !(never thought I would look forward to a MS product, believe me :-D )

Hi quadri-s.Have you tried fully erasing your drive then reformatting, before reinstalling Windows,to get a true clean install? If all you're doing is a reformat you're not getting a clean install. If you have any additional hard drives you might want to unplug them.

What kind of sytem do you have?Desktop, Laptop?Off the shelf?Custom?Homegrown? Is your hardware compatable?

A desktop custom made by a shop, but it's a Intel dual core 6600@2,4Ghz with 3Gb ram.So I think it should be powerful enough.Maybe a try reinstalling on an other partition. Maybe something went wrong.

Power or no power, compatability is of major concerns with both Vista and Windows 7.

a desktop from 2 yrs ago I think, power enough for CS4 in 32 bit :-)

Question for Quadr-s:On the laptop in question, did you have XP installed on it first? Then Migrate to Vista? If that's the case then odds are your hardware isn't even compatable, probably wasn't even compatable with Vista either.
