Problems joining a PC with Windows 7 to a server with Windows Server 2008
I have a server running Windows Server 2008. Up to now, I could join to the domain any PC with Windows XP with no problem. Now I was trying to join a PC running Windows 7 by the same procedure, but I have an error message that states that I should check if the DNS client is configured to communicate with a DNS server which can solve DNS names in the destination domain. Is this a compatibility problem?? Or is there something wrongly configured on Windows 7?? What is the device 192.168.2.2? Is it a router? I noticed that you have IP address in 10.0.0.0, but the address of and DHCP server is in 192.168.2.0. A simple way for resolving it is set to obtain IP address automatically. Another way is replacing the router with a switch. Then manually set IP address which is in 10.0.0.0. Arthur Xie - MSFT

Indeed, the device 192.168.2.2 is a router, although I can't replace it with a switch. In addition, all PCs (as this one) are already set to obtain IP address automatically, but I have never had this problem, up to now, with this PC running Windows 7.

Can you change the network address in your router from 192.168.2.0 to 10.0.0.0? If so the issue should be resolved after you change it. If you cannot change anything in the router, try to manually assign a IP address which is in192.168.2.0 and check the result again.Arthur Xie - MSFT
