Problems installing Netgear ProSafe VPN Client
As far asI know, the Netgear ProSafe VPN Client software is aNetgear brandedversion of SoftRemote. I am unable to get the VPN Client to install in Win 7 for VPN connections. It installs just fine in Vista SP2. I have tried every install mode in Win 7: Vista, Vista SP1, Vista SP2, Win XP. No joy. The install programs stops at virtual adapter installation with "failed to install adapter". I eventually tried to setup the VPN connection within Win 7. However, I am using "mode config" with fully qualified domain names in my VPN IpSec policy and I can't figure out how to configure that with Win 7. Any help or ideas are welcome. I've listed the software below. Thanks much.Netgear VPN Client Software Ver. 2.10.8.3 http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/50

Hi,There are in fact some problems installing VPN software on Windows 7, below some ways to go provided by cisco, it's not netgear, but it should have the same result:First option Uninstall any previous version of Cisco VPN client that you may have installed Reboot Download the Citrix DNE Update and install it. Reboot Make sure you have Cisco VPN Client 5.0.4.0300 (or newer, if available) Install the Cisco VPN Client Reboot Second 1. Install Cisco DNEupdate.2. Reboot3. Take ownership and delete ndis.sys (in c:\windows\system32\drivers).4. Take ownership and delete ndis.sys.mui (in c:\windows\system32\drivers\en-us).5. Install Cisco VPN Client 5.0.04.0300.6. Reboot7. Insert your Windows 7 install disc.8. Restart into the Windows 7 install when prompted otherwise the OS will go into error recovery.9. Select your language, time & currency and click 'Next'.10. Click 'Repair your computer' at the bottom.11. Click 'Next >' to start the repairing the OS.12. Windows 7 will repair itself (should take a few seconds) and automatically reboot.13. Cisco VPN Client should work without any other tweaks.Hope this helps you out!Kind regardsFilip Wilms

Has anyone triedinstalling the current software drivers in XP mode in the virtual machine? Can you make a connection and use remote desktop from there?.

I use Sun VirtualBox to run a WinXP on my Win7 notebook pc. ProSafe VPN Client works fine with it. I've got no problems, make an connection and use remote desktop. But I'd like to install it on my Win7, because starting WinXP takes some time :(
