Problems Sharing a Workgroup Printer from an XP to a 7
I have a Dell Photoprinter 720 hooked up to a PC running Windows XP that is connected with a network cable to a wireless router. I have two laptops running Windows 7 that connect to the same router wirelessly. I've set all of the computers to the same Workgroup name (MSHOME), and I've set the printer onthe XP computer to share. When I go to Network Places on the XP computer and click "View Workgroup Computers", I can see the two laptops. When I search for network devices on the Windows 7 laptops, however, it only shows the laptop I'm using at first, and as the progress bar gets about halfway complete, our internet suddenly stops working on all computers connected to the router. I then have to reset the router and modem several times before the internet will start working on any of the computers again. Any ideas why this is happening and why I can't get my Windows 7 laptops to see the XP computer or the printer attached to it? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Can you verify if the discovery reaches to the XP machine by doing a simultaneous trace? As of now it seems, you are not able to discover XP machine and then we can think about printer. Ketan Thakkar | Microsoft Online Community Support
