Problem with startup repair
Yesterday my computer locked up suddenly and I had to force a restart. Since then it had been having similar problems, but occasionally it would start running again after a couple minutes. This morning I booted it and then was going to try finding the problem,
but it would stop during the screen with the Windows logo forming.
I tried running startup repair and it had attempted a fix, but upon restart the same thing happened. I ran it again and received this problem signature.

I found a similar question, but I'm unsure if I can apply the same solution.

Would this be viable?

Hi,
Before running bootrec to rebuild boot file, I suggest performing a
system restore or trying last good known configuration first. Also use
System File Checker.
If the issue persists, you can refer to that post to troubleshoot the issue.
Best Regards,
Niki

Another thing you can try is to run check disk from the command prompt I suggest using chkdsk /B
What this will do is the next time you start your PC it will perform a scan of the hard drive for bad/damaged sectors on the drive.. If it finds them it will then make an attempt at saving the file/s located within that damaged area and move them to another
part of the drive. Once it has moved the file/s it will try to fix/repair the area or mark that sector as BAD so the hard drive will never use it again.
WARNING this can take a long time to run specially IF there IS damagePlease remember to flag a post that helps you as "answer" so that it may help others with same problems.
