Problem with shut down remains
I've make an report, but it was not solved... i'm having a problem with windows 7 shut down operation. when I select shut down or restart, I go through the proper steps to shut down and it freezes in "shutting down". I then have to hold the power button down for a few seconds to shut down. When I turn the pc back on, it says windows was not shut down properly. By thr way, I'm using avira personal antivirus en-64. I' ve tried to uninstall it, but it didn't work, the problem remains. Please help. thanks

Check you disk for malware programs. Vote if helpful, I am running for Office (joke), also mark questions answered. Hi, Are you still having the same problem? As I have the same thing happening. I click on the shutdown button and everything seems normal, then the monitor goes off, but you can still hear the fans blowing and the PC is still on. Someone please help! Thank you.

I've had this problem thru 5 installs on this system. It appears to be some Windows 7 service which doesn't shut itself down like it should. I was told by so-called experts it was a driver, but after disabling all the drivers I can, it appears to be one or more services. This is not to say that in some cases it isn't a driver, but for me don't think so.

There is always the "reset" button, When in doubt, reset cures all.Vote if helpful, I am running for Office (joke), also mark questions answered. I dont know the exact solution for this. But this might be tricky solution for you:Now, whenever you want to shutdown your PC try following command on RUN or on command promptshutdown -f -s -t 03Here f = forcefully shutdown (quicker shutdown)you can use r for restart and s for shutdown and t is time in secondsHope you can get this tricky solution

that sounds about right i have had the same issue and it either hangs in shut down mode, blue screens or turns black and does nothing else, upon starting windows again i get the message 'windows has recovered from an unexpected shut down' (the irony that it was shutting down for half an hour!) Ill give this fix a go, would any one know how i would get the usb/firewire pci card ive got to work if it is the case or do i just have to replace the part or drivers, Ive got a new win7 build on the way
