Problem with permission
Hi, I recently upgraded from Vista 64 to Windows 7 64bit. I have large disk on 3ware sata raid controler (5 disks as raid5) that I use for video work (adobe after effects, premiere, etc) Problem is that on occasion, almost randomly, when I try to write new file, I get an error that I don't have permission to write and file with the size of 0 bytes is written. When I try to save again with the same name I am asked to overwrite and everything is OK. When I try to take ownership of a folder (or disk) problem disappears for some time (couple of hours) then it appears again. Any ideas? (reformatting 2TB is not an option... I got no other disks to move files to) Thanks, B.

Hi, I would like to confirm that have you made sure your user account has full control for these folders? I also would like to suggest you test the issue in Clean Boot to check if there are any software conflicts. If the issue persists, would you please send me more information for analyzing. For your convenience, I have created a workspace for you. You can upload the information files to the following link. (Please choose "Send Files to Microsoft") Workspace URL: https://sftasia.one.microsoft.com/choosetransfer.aspx?key=71bd09fe-a737-4010-9de9-2ef6f98c9896 Password: i@sN0]GWNRK Note: Due to differences in text formatting with various email clients, the workspace link above may appear to be broken. Please be sure to include all text between '(' and ')' when typing or copying the workspace link into your browser. Meanwhile, please note that files uploaded for more than 72 hours will be deleted automatically. Please ensure to notify me timely after you have uploaded the files. Thank you for your understanding. Run Process Monitor ===================== 1. Please download "Process Monitor" from the following link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx 2. Right click on the downloaded file and click "Extract All…". 3. Follow the instructions on the screen to extract all the files to a folder, such as "ProcessMonitor". 4. Open the "ProcessMonitor" folder and double click on the "Procmon.exe" file to launch the program. Note: Please click Yes when we receive the User Account Control (UAC) prompt. 5. Click "Filter" -> "Reset Filter" to reset the filter. 6. Click the "Capture" (Reading glass) button on the toolbar to stop the current capture and click the "Clear" (Eraser) button to clear the contents. 7. After that, please try to reproduce the issue. 8. Before the error occurs, please click the "Capture" (Reading glass) button in the ProcessMonitor program to start capture. 9. When we receive the original error message, please click the "Capture" (Reading glass) button again to stop the capture. Note: By doing so, we are able to track the entire problematic processes. 10. After that, please click the "Save" button to save the log and send it to me. Regards, Arthur Li - MSFT
