Problem with my WiFi connection
I have a problem with my WiFi connection on HP Pavillion desktop. The problem occured after I upgraded from Visat to W7. My WiFi connection drops out after several hours of connection. After restart, which takes for ever with an error message, everything is fine agian. I've read and followed others's similar issue , Ihave not been able to resolve it yet. Is there any suggestions?

Most likely it kicked in the power saving mode removing power to the wireless (and wired) NIC's. Just go into the nic properties, Configure button, Power Management tab and uncheck the power saving feature.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. I tried your suggestions couple days ago. Unfortunately, it did not solve my problem. It seems when the internet (wifi) connection shuts down, something happens to the PC - the restart or reboot takes for ever to get back.

Router: linksys, model# WRT54G. I have not seen anything from Linksys recently to see if they have a new firm ware.Wirless: It is supplied by Ralink 4.0.1.0After unistalling and reinstalling the driver, the coonection seems to be holding. I'll see how long it will be working by the end of today, if thisindeed fix the proble. Let you know.

I have had similar problems. I bought a brand new Windows 7 x64 laptop on saturday. It connected easily to our home wifi network. Worked great for about 24 hours. After that it was impossible to connect to the wifi, lan cable still works. The odd thing is that I can see the neighbours wifi's but not my own. It's like the wifi you have used, becomes invisible. I use my own wifi constantly with one vista laptop, one linux notebook and one nokia cellphone with wifi. So, I know the wifi works. I tried everything, changed the drivers, disabled the network card etc. etc. Nothing worked. Finally I changed the name (SSID) on my wifi and suddenly it works again! So, the solution at the moment seems to be to change the network name every day! It must be some kind of bug in Windows 7. It doesn't seem to be the driver since it actually works when there is a new name for the network. If there is some kind of network cache that need to be flushed? Thorsten

I had the similar problem with brand new hp notebook. I checked the driver for the wifi card and found that the installed driver was for XP!! I checked the type of build in wifi adapter. Then I searched for the latest windows 7 driver for this wifi adapter type on the hp website and installed this one on my notebook a few days ago. From this day no problem with my hp notebook and Belkin Wlan Router. Wifi connection problem is a driver problem under windows 7 nothing else. Before we can use the wifi with full speed (this is one point I have to check next days) under windows 7 will take a long time :-(((

The Windows 7 laptop couldn't connect again. Thought I could fix it by changing name (SSID) on the network. It didn't work! But, when I changed the network name and changed it to "802.11g only mode", it worked. After that I could change back from "802.11g only", since that doesn't work so well. So, it seems that changing the network triggers the scanning, so the laptop can "see" the wifi. I hope there is a fix for this. Changing the network every day is too much trouble. Thorsten
