Problem with file access when from XP to Win 7?
Hi All, Hope I get the correct forum to ask this question. I just installed Win 7 as a second sytsem on another hard disk on my laptop, there is a XP in the first hard disk, my laptop is Dell D630, so I can insert a second hard disk into the place where the CD/DVD located. The two sysetms are independent, I take out the first drive before I installed Win 7. Here is my problem: When I login into Win7, I created a account(administrator), I don't use the build-in Administrator. Then I can't save the file directly after the modify on my XP hard disk, even if the files in the hard disk where Win7 located. But I can save it as......I can create a new file and then save it directly. I didn't encountered this problem when I login with the build-in Administrator. It seems a NTFS permission problem, right? I heard that we can use Easy Transfer to resolve this problem, but I faild after using Easy Transfer. So I want to know how can I modify my original files and save them directly, not save it as.....

TT - The original release of the RC ISO had an ugly little bug that got squashed early on that had problems with security descriptors. Be sure to make sure you've done a Windows Update to make sure you've got the patch for KB 970789installed.

Hi Wolf,I have 970789 installed on my Win 7 RC.My problem is related to NTFS permission in Win 7. There should be many users migrate from XP to Win 7, as we can't do a upgrade install from XP to Win 7, the only way is to have a new install of Win 7. If we don't use the build-in Administrator in Win 7, how can we modify our old file created in XP? I have a lot of files, and Ican't modify every file and save them as a new name.

OK, I got it, disable UAC, then I can modify the files and then save them directly.
