Problem with connecting to the internet.

Some things to check/consider: Type in 'cmd' on the start menu and hit enter to open the command prompt. Run command 'ipconfig' and see if your LAN or Wireless adapter is getting an IP address on your local network. If you cannot connect via wireless you will not even be getting to this part. On a wired LAN if the network card is detecting link to your switch or router then this would be the next step to check. I know it may sound silly. But some new laptops have switches on the case for enabling/disabling wireless and sometimes networking. I have a older Compaq which has a button to disable wireless networking to the point that I can see the AP and attempt to connect. But it will always fail. In 'Programs and Features' you can click the 'View installed updates' link and find the Microsoft updated driver for the card and Uninstall it and try to go back to the OEM driver from the CD to see if it makes a difference. If it is a fresh install and there is nothing important on the machine you may also consider reinstalling the RC to confirm if it was a software problem. After a reinstall if the same problem exists then I would suspect a hardware problem or something hardware disabled. This would probably be a last resort as no one really wants to do this... Though this is a RC and I have already reinstalled a couple times for testing sake.

Hi, Thank you for posting. Please also check if you can ping the router with its IP Address. Meanwhile, please run ipconfig /all in command prompt and post the results to this thread for our further research. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
