Problem with all version of 7 displaying pictures in webpages in any browser ( ff , Chrome , IE )
hello i'm becoming crazy , on my two windows 7 professional machines and also before with the RC1 i'm having one time ot of two problems with some websites that hosts pictures on other websites the picture will not display , well sometime yes sometime no , but if i use windows xp i never have the problem . for instance ebay host their image on thumbs1.ebaystatic.com 2, 3 etc and it's seems like from time to time i cannot connect to this web site it tried disabling firewall, stop antivirus , then i thought it was ipv6 related since my modem/router is old and it works in xp since there are no v6 so i disabled the option in the lan properties but on 7 any browser give me problems !! i'm still having the same problems and this is driving me insane i also have the problem with google image and other sites ... Please Help !!

Hi, First, I would like to confirm the following questions: 1. How does the computer connect to Internet, via DSL, router or switch? If the computer connect to Internet via router, please bypass it and connect to DSL modem directly for a test. 2. Does the issue only occur on certain website or each website? At this stage, you can perform the following steps to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Restart the computer in Safe Mode with Networking and then access the problematic website for a test. If the issue persists, please let me know. Otherwise, please reboot the computer in Clean Boot to check the result. 2. Run antivirus program and perform a full scanning. 3. Temporarily remove all third party browsers and reload IE to the default settings. Then, please access Microsoft website and check whether the picture can display normally. Thanks, Novak

Hello and thank you for your answer i'm connected to an adsl modem/router philips the two computers with windows 7 have both the same problems even when chrome or firefox were not installed . yes i can see the pictures from the web page you gave me the url . the problem only happens half of the time when i connect to sites that have a lot of images hosted i suppose on other website that their source page websites sites like Ebay use thumbs1.ebaystatic.com , google images for instance i go on www.ebay.com i just type "ps3" and one time of two or maybe more i receive quickly the results but i can't see the pictures of those objects . and at the bottom left i have connecting to thums1.ebaystatic.com ... so at that moment if i copy this url ( just the host not even the full url with the jpg ) and try to open it in a another session , i receive time out on that page ! but for some unknown reasons after a long time some times it works ! when it's not working i thought it could be a DNS problem that i tried to ping the host and had a adress resolving and ping reply without problem but it was not the same ip for instance for google.images i got 74.125.65.103 from a online dns tool and my pc gave me 66.102.9.147 dunno if it's normal since i'm from europe and the dns tool was from us and i know they are using a lot of dns alias so ... And like i said on my third machine which is windows xp machine it always works ! you can check that url this is what i get for instance when i tried to look for a google image could have been the same with a ebay stuff you can see what i get here http://i543.photobucket.com/albums/gg443/cloporte/dns_prob.jpg I also tried other dns like opendns etc but no change i thought it was a IPV6 problem since my modem/router is 5 years old ... I think i'm going to reinstall xp on all my machines :p You thing it's still needed to do a test of safe mode since it's a freshly new installation .. thank you in advance for your answer

Have you visited Adobe.com and installed Flash player? Also Java.com and installed Java? (sometimes overlooked)Firefox has issues-here. perhaps uninstall it if the above does not help. Chrome is only XP/Vista, unless you have the beta.leave your ipv6 on. Win 7 uses it. Won't cause any internet issues. Finally, confirm that you have the most recent drivers for the display adapter (graphics, video card)Post back with your result.

The last graphics video cards drivers have nothing to do , i have the problem on two completely different computers one laptop , one desktop one wired the other wiresless and in all the browsers like i said just freshly installed with the latest windows update , and like i said sometimes it works sometimes not while on my 3rd machine which is XP i have no problem at all I think it might be a problem because my modem router is too old maybe

I kid you not.I will then assume that you have the browser add-ons installed and graphics drivers are Windows 7 versions. So, have you removed the third party browsers and reset the IE8 settings to default as Mr. WU suggested and tested? Can you update the firmware for the modem/router or is it proprietary from your ISP? Older hardware should not be an issue for internet browsing.

Hello No i didn't clean an reset the settings of IE but i did tried IE only after i did a clean install of windows 7 with no other browsers ans i had the same problem now if i enter t1.gstatic.com in my browser i always receive a connection timeout on my windows 7 machine but the ping reply and the tracert goes thru ??? But after a while it's working and then it might be the t2.gstatic.com who is not responding ... while on my XP it's always working fine What i don't get is that the websites i 'm having problems are part of bigger websites like google or ebay and in their name it's always static somewhere like t0.gstatic , pics.ebaystatic.com what so special about those "static" hosts ????

Since you have not tried my suggestions, I still recommend to perform the following steps first to troubleshoot the issue. 1. Restart the computer in Safe Mode with Networking and then access the problematic website for a test. Does it occur? 2. Reload IE to the default settings. 3. Bypass the router and connect to DSL modem directly instead for a test. Thanks, Novak

LaCucaracha, Free is not what it always seems to be. Browser redirects...trojans...phone home ET http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itprogeneral/thread/fd2d96ae-aaa3-49c1-a287-0bddbd21c425 Free why ? you try to be funny or you are arrogant , my company is a very big and very important client of microsoft we are also microsoft partners , i downloaded the version from the official microsoft website it's a professional version , i hope you don't polluate this forum again with your useless answer I suppose you are not from microsoft to talk to me like this ? thanks in advance not replying anymore . novak i tried to reset the IE settings but no change . i can't bypass the router it's modem/router so one piece of hardware next step is to restart in safe mode but like i said before it's a fresh install ! i have found a lot of problems on the internet concerning connecting to static web sites. I have noticed something strange , i had the two open dns ip in my modem router , but for some unknown reasons when i was getting the ips info thru dchp to my laptop i was getting my provider dns and the 192.168.1.1 which is my router up but it didn't put it anywhere my provider dns !! the only dns i mentioned were the ones from opendns, how can i get my provider dns since i have a static internet address ? and not specified it anywhere So what i did i have put in my modem the two dns from my provider again and it seems like i don't have problems for now just a few times i couldn't see some images . but this is machine is connected using dhcp , on my static ip machine i received the pictures but it's much slower but at least i have them ! regards

Hi novak,My answer was not useless. I did it to get the response that you gave. Sorry if it upset you. So, we now know that you say that you have a good version of Win 7 installed. Problem ruled out. Here is a link to network configuration settings from the TechNet Library that may assist you in reviewing your network settings. Here. It is related to server, but is useful.Have you tried restarting the router? Let all of your connections renew? Then test the clients.

Please restart the computer to Safe Mode with Networking for a test first and let me know the result. This mode will load the system with the minimum amount of programs and devices. Since the issue did not occur when using Static IP address, you can keep using it instead of using DHCP as a workaround. If you would like to keep using the Static IP address, I suggest you also perform the following steps. Step 1: Clear the Hosts file 1. Click the Start Button, type "%SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc" (without quotation marks) and press Enter. 2. Right-click on the file "Hosts" (without quotations) and choose Delete. 3. Click Continue to confirm the deletion and verify the administrator permission. Step 2: Clean up the Domain Name Resolution (DNS) cache 1. Click the Start Button, type "cmd" (without quotation marks), in the search result list, right click on Cmd.exe and select Run as administrator. 2. Click Continue button to verify the administrator permission. 3. In the popup window, type: "ipconfig /flushdns" (without quotation marks) and press Enter.

Hello i already tried the step 2 with no succes , concerning the step one also since it was a fresh install and did'nt have anything in my host file . but like i said i almost have no problems anymore , but yesterday i had the problems , rebooted in safe mode and then it worked in safe mode but after i restarted in normal mode it was also working . but like i said sometimes it works sometime not ! i will try to again restart in safe mode if i have again problem today i was having the problem now on my pc with the static ip but i'm not at home so i connected remotly before i could not access image.jeuxvideo.com , so i rebooted in normal mode not safe mode and after the reboot i could connect to image.jeuxvideo.com but after a few minutes, i couldn't connect anymore two image.jeuxvideo.com and i know this site is working since on my xp machine i can access it . this is so crazy I have to add that when i do a tracert to image.jeuxvideo.com it works and trace is complete without timeout ! So the name resolving is not the issue i guess . what i don't get is that sometimes it's working and 2 minute later it's not anymore !!! i also tried a telnet image.jeuxvideo.com 80 and it's not working !!! while it should work and it is also working on my windows XP machine !!! but if i try 2 minutes later it working sometime !!! I just tried to reboot in safe mode, still same issue !! is this could fix it ? netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled Edit: I'm progressing , it seems like if i don't use at all firefox i can browse image.jeuxvideo.com with IE , telnet on port 80 but for some reason if i use firefox on that website , it will not display correctly anymore , i will not able to telnet ect it seems like that when firefox connect to that website it screws some of my internet settings ok now i have delete it , clean the mozilla folder, reinstall it and everything is fine i hope it's the final solution !
