Hi miss_hell9,
Would you please share us more details with the issue ?What is the exact symptom of the issue ?
"I am having problems updating Windows"
Will all the updates suffer the issue ?Have you got any error messages ?
It seems that there is something wrong with the windows update.
"I ran a diagnostics "
Do you mean the "dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth","sfc /scannow"or somethig else ?
Please take the following step to have a troubleshoot  ,if there is any antivirus software installed ,please turn them off temporarily to have a check:
1.Run the built-in troubleshoot tool to have  a diagnostic :
 Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories\Windows Update.

2.Clear the windows update cache as Nicolas suggested.
 net stop wuauserv
  cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
  ren Download Download.old
  net start wuauserv
Restart the machine and manually check for updates again

3.Try the fixit tool to reset Windows update Components as S.Sengupta suggested .

I hope every one knows that even a pirated OS owner can upgrade his OS to Windows 10.
If there is any problem then Windows system restore can revert back you on your old last good OS condition.

If you want to know better on this, you can go through my blog.

If you want, you may go for Windows 10 but if face any problem get back to your own old OS.
