Problem with Windows Mobile Device Center
Hey folks, for about two or three days now I get popups seemingly at random, that tell of a problem with Windows Mobile-based device connections. And in fact, I cannot connect my Windows Mobile Devices anymore or even open the WMDC.The funny thing: Once I try to uninstall WMDC (to reinstall it afterwards), my Windows Explorer crashes. The problem also persists after rebooting.I don't have a clue on what causes it. Can't think of any software I installed, that might cause this behaviour - especially as it used to work fine on Windows 7. Does anyone have a suggestion?Best regards and thanks in advanceJens

Anthony Mann(MSFT) has a post up about it here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/56531f1b-cf19-40ee-83a0-6d040d48fcaf.That should take care of the problems. : )

Hey there, unfortunately that didn't work for me. First of all: If I connect my WMD to the PC it doesn't get listed as "Network Adapter", but rather as Mobile Device ("Smartphone USB Sync"). I tried deinstalling that one then. It in fact works - if I connect my Treo 500v again, it first has to reinstall those drivers. But then the error-messages re-appear. Uninstalled WMDC - no effect. And: I can't even reinstall it - setup crashes. I don't understand it- it worked just fine some days ago.Any other suggestions? Or am I just stupid?Best regardsJens

Hi again,in the mean time, I found the solution. I accidentally still had ActiveSync 4.5 installed, which seem to have caused the many error messages. After I deinstalled it, I still couldn't get it working. So I manuallydeactivated the Services related to Windows Mobile Devices. When I then restarted the Computer and connected my WMD, the connection worked and WMDC was reinstalled properly.Best regardsJens
