Problem with VPN
I recently set up a VPN on my Windows 7 PC. As soon as I have connected once and then disconnected, the network icon in the notification area will show as disconnected. This happens even though the Internet is connected. The only way I have found to get rid of the problem is to delete the VPN which isn't really an adequate solution.

Hi, Firstly, please let us know more details about the issue. Is there any error code or message? Is there any related trace in Event Viewer? When the network icon shows as disconnected, can you access Internet or remote resources? It is also appreciated that if you can provide us screenshots about the issue. Meanwhile, please check if this document can help you. Troubleshooting common VPN related errors More information: Virtual Private Networks Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support

Hi I can access Internet and all resources as usual. No error messages or entries in Event Viewer. All works as usual but just a bit annoying. There appears to be a lot of other people with same problem after doing a search on the Internet but no answers to why it does it.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. This time, when issue occurs I would like to suggest the following and see how it works: 1. Run net localgroup "administrators" "local service" /add in a privileged command prompt. 2. Reboot your system into Clean Boot Mode and check if the issue can be resolved. Hope this helps.
