Problem with Non-Administrators and network printers
Using Windows 7 Professional in a domain environment. Using kixart for a logon script and non-local administrator users, can not connect to network printers off a domain print server. It says that the user is not authorized to access. It allows the driver to be copied to the machine, but will not connect or set-up the network printer on the machine. Once the user is made a local administrator, the printer is connected and everything is fine. Is there a method to use network printers without the use being a local administrator and having access to evrything on the local computer?Gerard Laird

When you try to connect to the printer, the system need to install printer drivers. In Windows 7 hardware drivers installation requires administrator privilege. You have to follow the steps below on one of the Windows 7 systems to edit the policy to allow standard user accounts to install hardware drivers and apply this policy to all Windows 7 clients in the domain. If your domain server is Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2, you can directly edit the GPO for Windows 7 clients. Please refer: Configure Computer Policy to Allow Non-Administrators to Install Specific Devices If the issue still occurs, please check both access permission and sharing permission of the printers.
