Problem with New Router (IPv6)
Hi, I've been looking around at all of the IPv6 problem threads, and I haven't found anything yet that works. I bought a new router today, I'm moving off of a wireless G to a wireless N, both from Linksys. I have two roomates who have Windows Vista, and they have had no problems. However, the two of us who have newer Windows 7 computers have had terribly low speeds. I've seen on the Vista computers that they have IPv6 connectivity, but for the Windows 7 computers it says "No Internet Access." Looking at the network connection details, I see that there is no IPv6 DNS server. All of the other fields are filled. On the computers that are working, the download speed is around 10 Mb and the upload is around 4 Mb. For the computers that are slow, the download speed has a lot of spikes but only peaks around .7 Mb. The strange thing is that the upload speed is 4 Mb, the same as the working computers. I've been looking for a solution all day, but to no avail. Thanks a lot! Andrew

1. Your question is legal one but the place is not very appropriate. There are some more specialized forums/communities at Linksys and Cisco web sites. 2. There are situations when you obtain No Internet Access but there is functional communication. NCSI performs a DNS lookup on www.msftncsi.com, then requests http://www.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt. This file is a plain-text file and contains only the text Microsoft NCSI. NCSI sends a DNS lookup request for dns.msftncsi.com. This DNS address should resolve to 131.107.255.255. If the address does not match, then it is assumed that the internet connection is not functioning correctly. 3. There are several mechanisms that influence the transfer rate, QoS, common transfer rate,... 4. If you realy want to dig deeper into the network traffic, use network monitor to analyze packets (either NM from Microsoft or free Wireshark) Regards Milos

Have you tried updating the wireless drivers on the Windows 7 machines? Richard
