Problem with Hypelinks in Email Text

Outlook suddenly stopped allowing me to insert hyperlinks into my email text. When I highlight a word or phrase and try to make it a hyperlink to a website, Outlook now simply replaces the word with the entire website address in the body of the text. For example, if I want to highlight the phrase "my website" and make it a hyperlink, Outlook will replace those words with the actual website address, such as: {HYPERLINK "http://www.aaperry.com"}. I don't know why it started doing this or how to fix it.

Note that the problem is WITHIN MY EMAIL. I have Microsoft Outlook Exchange. If I try to insert a hyperlink to a web address it shows the entire address IN THE EMAIL rather than simply the word or phrase highlighted. I've subsequently learned that the person receiving the email only sees the hyperlinked text, so that's somewhat of a relief. Nevertheless, I prefer actually seeing in the email I'm sending what the recipient will ultimately view. My question is: why the change and how can I get it to return to normal?

Hi Glenn,

Thank you for your question.

Did issue occur on all users outlook client?

Did issue occur on another office application? For example: word, excel, and so on.

We could login OWA to check if the Word has been replaced into {HYPERLINK "http://www.aaperry.com"}.?

If the issue occur on all users client, we could update outlook to check if the issue persist. If the issue occur on the specific user, we could re-install outlook to check if it was fixed.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim
