Problem with BitLoader in PenDrive
Hi, I was enabling BitLocker to my 16GB PNY pendrive. Unfortunately while the encryption was going on i clicked on pause. After that i am not able to use my Pen drive. it showed locked and when i enter the password it says " Request could not be performed because of I/O error". Then i tried clicking forget password and gave the key which got generated but that is also not working. It says wrong key. When i plug my Pendrive to a machine with XP it says connect to a machine with Windows 7 and complete the encryption.I also tried formatting my PenDrive on XP it says Windows was unable to format. Then in XP i was able to see teh BitlLocker ToGo.exe i tried deleteing it but i get an error saying Cannot delete BitLockerToGo: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.I have a copy of all the files stored in my Pen Drive so i have an option of loosing all the files in it, but how do i access my PenDrive. Kindly advice.

Hi,From your description, I understand that the recovery password is generated when setting up the Bitlocker. But the system could not recognize this password. If your computer has the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip, BitLocker uses it to seal the keys that are used to unlock the encrypted operating system drive. When you start your computer, BitLocker asks the TPM for the keys to the drive and unlocks it.If an unlock method fails, such as if the TPM detects a change in boot components or a password is forgotten, you will need to use a recovery method to access your data. For more information:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732774.aspxUsually, after the drive has been encrypted and protected with BitLocker, local and domain administrators can use the Manage BitLocker page in the BitLocker Drive Encryption item in Control Panel to change the password to unlock the drive, remove the password from the drive, add a smart card to unlock the drive, save or print the recovery key again, automatically unlock the drive, duplicate keys, and reset the PIN.Meanwhile, an "I/O Device error" means that some kind of unrecoverable error happened on that device. Check the cabling to your peripheral devices and retry the operation. If you still get this message, run hardware diagnostics. If the diagnostics do not detect a problem, contact the supplier of the running application. Run CHKDSK /R from Start, this will locates bad sectors and attempts to recover readable information.See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc978853.aspx
