Problem sharing files between Windows 7 and Vista over a network
I have a Windows 7 x64 desktop and Vista x86 laptop connected to one network and I'm having a problem sharing files between those two.I can access my desktop's public files from my laptop without any problem butI can't access my laptop's files from my desktop. When I go to Network on my desktop, it does not display my laptop which is on and connected to the same network. My desktop doesn't seem to detect my laptop in the same network.Although my laptop detects and displays all computers in the network, my desktop detects and displays only itself in the network.Windows 'Easy' Transfer won't work as well.Reminder :My desktop is 'Windows 7 x64'My laptop is 'Vista x86'Help me please.

Hi,
I suggest you check the advanced sharing settings in Network and Sharing Center. Please open Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Center, click “Change advanced sharing settings” in the left pane. Then enable the following settings.
Network DiscoveryFile and Printer SharingPublic Folder Sharing
If the issue persists, temporary disable the firewall on the Windows 7 computer.
If it does not help, please let us know if you could access other computers by entering \\ipaddress in Start Search box. If the access fails, please let us know the detail of the error message.Arthur Xie - MSFT
