Problem in assigning IP address in Vista/Window 7 PCs
On assigning the IP address of 10.12.0.0/16 series on Large compant network , PC shows either IP conflict or on pinging shows following message: “PING transmit failed, error code 1231.” And we cannt able to add IP address of given series But on connecting with separate small LAN, same PCs behave well. please reply to rks465@hotmail.com

On one machine where you getting the ping error, it seems that there is a propblem with IP configuration or settings or with TCP/IP. Please try the steps on a machine Go to the Start Menu, type cmd and right click or (Ctrl + Shift and hit Enter), and select "Run As Administrator" Type the following commands, each followed by pressing enter. ipconfig /flushdns nbtstat -R nbtstat -RR netsh int reset all netsh int ip reset netsh winsock reset

Hi, According to your description, it indicates that another computer on the network is using the same IP address that your computer is using. Each computer on a network must have a unique IP address. You may refer to the following article: Resolving Duplicate IP Address Conflicts on a DHCP Network Hope it helps.
