Problem establishing wireless connection
Hi everyone,
I have strange issue with my laptop (Dell Studio 1558, Windows 7 Home Premium).
Wireless was OK but three weeks ago something happened and now I am able to connect only to my home Wireless. Not possible to connect to another network!
If I try to establish connection to a WEP encrypted wireless network Ill prompt for a password, provide it and will prompt for it again (kind of loop).
By WPA encrypted networks get windows unable to connect to this network.
Tried to remove all registered wirelss networks (from past), install latest card driver, reset winsocks, etc. No effect!
Unfortunately I do not have OS backup for a date prior of this issue.
May be there is a package to restore only network components to their original state delivered with distribution of W7 Home?
Otherwise will be forever coupled only to one wireless network!

1. Give a try to Dell support forum. You may not be alone....
2. If update install MS drivers, reinstall Dell drivers.
3. WEP is not recommended for weak security. Use WPA2-PSK whenever possible.
4. Are there any traces in event log and device manager?
5. If nothing helps then new install is the fastest solution. Use migration tools for transfering user profile.

Dear all,
I don't have static IP. And I've already tried to remove wirelss adapter, reset NIC configurations, winsocks, etc.
Unfortunately... no positieve effect.

"WLAN Autoconfig service" is OK.
Is it somehow possible to reinstall "package" of only network components of Win7?

no you can only uninstall from the properties of your network adaptor....
have you tried to reset your wireless router and check if you can connect with NO SEURITY ?

I can connect even with security to my home wireless.
I can not connect to all other WiFi's (see my first post).
I can not "play" with other networks' routers as I am not owner/admin of them.

are you sure the passwords are correct?

Hi,
Firstly, please check if other devices can connect to the network via wireless. This can determine that whether the wireless router can function well.
If other devices work fine, please try the following:
1. Check if you can connect via wired connection.
2. Remove the security key for the wireless network and try to connect it again.
3. check if
reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) can help you.

Hi,
Using your firend's computer to connect to that router, double check the wireless password and encryption mode. Also, you should make sure there is no limition in this router's DHCP. If all are not useful, you should try to restore
the router to factory setting to try.

Finally resolved.
As some people here suggested I verified all routers logs with the admins.
And indeed, was blocked by a (hand made!) filter with my MAC address.
Admins swared it was not done by them but ....
Thank you everyone for help!

That suggests a possible security problem, talk to your IT staff about that, and secure your routers better
