Problem connecting to remote desktop on Windows 7 32 bit from Windows 7 64 bit (XP can connect fine)
CPU1 is a desktop running Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit -- this is the computer that I need to control using remote desktop. CPU2 is a desktop running Windows XP Pro SP3. CPU3 is a laptop running Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit. Using remote desktop, CPU2 can connect to CPU1 just fine, so RDP is working. CPU3 cannot connect to CPU1, I receive the error "This computer can't connect to the remote computer." CPU3 can connect to CPU2, no problems there so RDP is apparently working. Any ideas on how I can fix this?

Fixed problem by reinstalling Windows 7. Not a complete reinstall, used the setup disk and did an "upgrade" of the existing installation.

Hi, I am glad to know it works. In the future, if you meet this issue again, please also refer to the following: 1. Check if PC3 and PC1 can ping each other with computer name and IP Address. 2. If you are using computer name when establish the RDP connection, please try IP Address instead. 3. Run the following command in an elevated command prompt to disable Windows Firewall temporarily to have a check: Netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state off Note: This is just for test, please turn it back on with the command “Netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state on”. In addition, I would like to share the following with you for your reference: Why can’t I connect using Remote Desktop Connection? Troubleshoot Remote Desktop problems Hope this helps. Thanks. So is this a problem cause the 32 bit and the 64 bit win7 cant connect trough rdp?
